I am Jess Briggs will be guiding you through your first week of orientation at UNC. You will be receiving emails from me as well as other areas of the hospital. If you work at Wakebrook, please check your UNC email for manager correspondence on whether there will be an in person component of your orientation this week.

 

If you work at Hillsborough, please check your UNC email for correspondence from your educator Krista Wells regarding an in person session Friday of this week.

Learning Made Simple (LMS) Virtual Training:

 

  • During Orientation week you are required to complete a number of online modules. Please do not begin working on these until the first day of orientation.
  • LMS modules access via https://myapps.unch.unc.edu  OR https://unchcs.sumtotal.host.
  • While in LMS open your “Timeline” on the Left navigation bar to find the list of modules assigned to you.
  • LMS MODULES AND EPIC VIRTUAL TRAINING MUST BE COMPLETED BY END OF DAY 5 REGARDLESS OF DUE DATE LISTED IN LMS

 

  • If you have the 1:1 Supervision Competency Module assigned: do NOT complete prior to reading the policy.

 

EPIC Training:

EPIC is the electronic health record management system that is used at UNC.

EPIC virtual training must be completed by end of business day Thursday in order to get the required access.

There is no test out option currently available for support staff.

 

In Person Wednesday:

Attire: Cranberry red scrubs or business casual – No jeans, no shorts, no leggings or yoga pants. 

Onsite Computer Lab:

 

Orientation week involves virtual training and daily video conference meetings. If you are having computer issues at home, the UNC computer lab (directions attached for Classroom C) is available for all new teammates during the orientation period. Computer issues tend to happen when utilizing MAC devices.

Parking and Photo ID:

You will receive a separate communication regarding parking and Photo ID, this will also be discussed on day 1. Please be aware that a photo ID will be required to receive your badge.

Hours for Orientation Week:

New staff will not clock in the first week. Unit timekeeper will enter time according to job class:

Permanent Staff - Hybrid orientation NA/CST = 36 hours

Per diem and Flex Team Staff - Virtual only NA/CST = 32 hours

HUC = 24 hours

Cardiac Surveillance, EMT, Patient Sitter = 16 hours

Important Information:

UNC Credentials/LMS/Email: if you have not received your UNC email/ credential instructions, you will receive them from Human Resources by end of business on Sunday. If not, call ISD Help Center. ISD Help Center is available 24/7 for all your technology needs 984-974-4357.

·         By Monday, be sure to log in to your UNC Health email https://mail.unch.unc.edu. We will EXCLUSIVELY use this email address for you after Monday.

·         Please check your technology connections in advance as you are expected to participate with both audio and VIDEO. (You may use the WebEx desktop app or the WebEx browser)

 

MAC devices

Please note for MAC devices you will need the most up to date OS installed and plan for extra time to troubleshoot access.
